Zebulon “Peak” Pike (Pike’s Peak!!)

I grew up in Lamberton, down by Trenton Thunder Stadium. I didn’t DIE here, but if you can read the worn-out cenotaph (the fancy name for my memorial marker) you will see I was blown to bits in Canada during the War of 1812 —in which I led the battle to fight with Britain up in Canada. Alas, after discovering the highest point in America, I should lose the rest of my body up in the north-lands!

You wil notice… our war was along with our allies, the French against the Brits –who were overcoming Napoleon at that famous battle which Beethoven wrote about. Then Napoleon’s brother, Joseph Bonaparte- King of Spain – would soon hi-tail it to Bordentown. Our side tried to get the old Emperor to come to New York, but he wanted to bring his whole retinue.
