Beginning with the October 12, 2024 Reception to kick-off the David Brearley Constitution Center, the church will slowly be undergoing a transformation — to become a hub for educational activities. This is a very broad mission. It will be carried out over a ten-year period through multiple channels and with different sorts of fund-raising “instruments.”
Enhancing the role of our church into a community “educational activities hub” will be accomplished around the CONCEPTUAL FOCUS of recreational education, supported by grants brought in through one of the 501c3 ‘children’ of St. Michaels the ASK Center for Recreational Education.
Recreational Education
Disney’s “Imagineers” created the EPCOT museum approach in 1982. This opened the door to recreational education, with the evolution of display approaches used by the top museums of today. St. Michael’s special place in history would suggest creating a number of traditional museum exhibits. Yet today’s affordable technologies allow St. Michael’s to leverage its own history to become an innovator for the future of small community educational hubs, in particular the many small struggling churches that are less historic than us.

Turning our church into an "educational activity hub" will clearly bring back the church to life, but it will no longer be simply that of a parish congregation. By promoting new exciting recreational uses of buildings such as ours through after-school programs, camps and clubs, our interactive displays and educational docents, family trips and visitors will constitute a renewal of neighborhood life to a broader community.
