The Allan Rohan Crite Collection

Allan Crite was a well-known Episcopal artist from Boston, an African-American who had as a young man in the 1930’s exhibited at New York’s prestigious Museum of Modern Art. His works are currently in the collection of American art kept at the Smithsonian Institute.

He was brought to St. Michael’s in the 1980’s to create our Social Justice award, the preliminary drafts of which are hanging in our library.

He was probably in Trenton during the Advent season, as he left us a good-sized collection of originals which are on display as well.
